She Did It..... and some more to peep at.....

Shenea is a mommy.... We have hatched our very first peep!

Silly me, I forgot to correct the date on the camera after changing the batteries :(

The real date ....... June 26th 2010.

It's early Saturday morning, I have the coffee on, and it's time to go to the barn and start chores.

I grab the big white 5 gallon bucket and head for the tackroom, one scoop on Lo-Thyro and two scoops of Equi-SE goes in the bucket and out to Scout. I place the bucket on the stall floor in front of the horse and go for the halters, but wait, Shenea is chattering away in her pen. I'm thinking I better take a look and be sure one of the other chickens didn't get in there to visit.

I open the door to the brooder pen and on the floor running around Shenea is a little yellow fuzz ball with 2 dots of black on it's head. Isn't it sweet.......

Now, I'm so tickled, I run into the house, hubby, is still in bed sleeping, but,( I'm so tickled) I just cannot wait to announce my surprise.

Hey, wake up, we have our very first little peep. "I know, he says, I found it last night, but didn't want to tell you, in case it didn't make it".

The peep has and today it is 4 days old.......

Also, new on the farm, just outside the garden gate are these absolutely gorgeous roses. I purchased two rose bushes last year from a trip to Aldi's, planted them in the fall (with some help) I found on Shabby Old Potting Shed's blog about how to care for them have a sucessful crop.

Thanks for posting that info my dear friend.......

A look inside the garden gates you would see my corn, turnips, swiss chard, asparagus, cabbage, egg plant, tomatoes, watermelon, honey-dew, spaghetti squash, zucchini, and summer squash.

Oh congrats!! I have never had a hen set on her own eggs long enough to hatch any out but I dream of that one day! My daughter has a guinea setting now, I can't wait to see them following behind their mom either!!

Last evening we were driving down the road and a big rooster then a hen and her 5 bitties crossed the road in front of us as if they owned it. They had traffic stopped both ways!!!! Too cute!!!

Hi Ladies,

Great, to see you all...

The peep is so cute, we have been handling it so it will be comfortable with us.

I was so excited, I placed 10 new eggs under the hen, as she doesn't seem to want to leave the nest...

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks so much for your warm comments.
