Listening to the rooster crow & taking it all in

As I sit, at our kitchen Island peering through the small window above the sink, the sun is shining ever so bright illuminating off the snow covered grounds. I hear Ugly Barney, our rooster, crowing away, since we haven't seen the sun for days, I have to wonder if he isn't singing.

Whatever, all the crowing is about, does he not look proud!

The whole flock is happy today, they haven't been out in the run for months, today they all poked their noggins out their hatch and decided to venture outdoors.

For those of you who do not own chickens, see what they can do for you, yes, provide you with some spectacular tasting desserts. Ok, the chickens supply the eggs all we have to do is teach our young to bake. Here you see our oldest GrandD putting the final touches onto the cake before we sink our teeth into it.

This was by far the smoothest cake ever, the frosting was light, the cake moist and filled with my own homemade Strawberry~Kiwi Jam, can you taste it?

So you see what a few chickens can do for you and your family...
I also, wanted to share with you a website, that I found while browsing my informational magazine called MARY JANES FARM. Now, for those bloggers who remember a previous blog of mine in search of a chicken whisperer, well, don't laugh but here he is.
The Chicken Whisperer blogtalkradio.com all I did was a web search with the title I'm passing on to you to check it out.
Have a great weekend my friends,
Mel

My grandbaby will be born while my son is overseas with the Airforce so I will go be with his wife and baby in NJ. They have chickens so I will be taking care of them and can't wait.

Hi Ladies, It's so great to have you stop in, and thanks for all your kind words.

Brenda congrats on the new grandbaby, sorry, that your son will be away. Being prior military, I have to say, been there done that. Good luck, with chicken sitting, sounds like you will have new memories to share with the rest of your family.
Look forward to seeing you all again, soon.

Oh girl if you only knew what looking at your beautiful chickens do for my spirit..There are days when I long to live in the country and have chickens again...I want to he them cluck again and watch the babie 'doodies'run under their mama and hide..I want mu grandbabies to see and touch their soft little feathers...girl you make me cry with such a beautiful post...oh lordy then I went down and read the 'chicken chase' oh my word!!!!! lol lol That is so funny..when we lived in the country years ago I had farm animals and one day the same thing happened with my chickens...only the snake was still alive and the chicken was making a bee line to run under the house with the other chickens in hot pursuit..I was screaming to high heaven...so afraid they wouldn't kill it and it would be lose under the house..I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off and the baby goat was trying to keep up with me and the ducks and little bunnies were running for their lives!!!! lol lol Ohhhh what sweet memories you have brought back to me this cold dreary night..bless you girl...love ya~ Picket ~
