Hi guys,
Yes sir ree, Nelly has not budged off the eggs for a week now. I reached under her, and dated the eggs which she is sitting on. One was delivered by me, on count of being stuck. Poor chick, (Delaware) was walking around the yard bulging for a long time. I would never have noticed this, except, it was the day I decided to do some early spring cleaning and clean the entire coop. While I was dragging out sleds of chicken poo, this chicken was walking around outside. I'd never witnessed a clogged vent before (only read about it) and wasn't really sure that was the case. About 45 minutes later, I thought, I'll just pick the chicken up, and squeeze the egg out. So, here I am, on my knees, -4* and tons of snow (which actually helped to cushion the eggs fall) chicken in my arms, with just a little pressure out plopped the egg, Big one, for sure a double yolker, I dated it and placed it under Nelly, hoping for twins...
Saying Farewell to a sweet little bunny
This was Rush Tail, who has gone onto her next stage of life. Yesterday morning, I had gone out to do my chores, apple pieces in hand for the bunnies. I entered their cage as I do everyday calling out to Rush Tail, she always came up to say hello, from a distance of course. When she didn't come to greet me, I just thought she was in no mood to move, so decided, I'd toss her apple to her underneath the bench this is when I found her.
We will definately miss Rush Tail and pray she is in bunny heaven eating alfalfa with many other fuzzy bunnies just like her.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I certainly do hope my blog will inspire to use that sewing machine. :) How sad to say goodbye to a dear furry friend. I love your chickens. I dream of one day having a few chickens.

Oh, so sorry to hear about Rush Tail. She was so cute. How old was she? I did not know that chickens get their eggs stuck! I hope I don't have to be as brave as you when it comes to this! Glad you got the egg out. blessings,Kathleen
Oh boy, a broody hen! I have yet to deal with one but I'm sure my turn's coming! Sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet bunny! It's so sad to lose a pet.

Oh yes, chickens eggs do on occasion get stuck, it's not a difficult task to aid in the laying of the egg. I was a little concerned, after the fact, like I said, I had only read about this happening and wasn't to sure of what to do, just knew the poor hen was not going to be able to do it herself, the way she was walking around. Poor chicken, was a huge egg!
Sorry about your rabbit! I hope you have good luck with your hatch! My poor hen sat on hers forever and nothing hatched. I felt so bad for her.
So sorry about Rush Tail, Mel... she was so cute.
I'm glad you found the poor gal and helped to free the egg... sometimes that can be fatal!!
