This here folks is my handy dandy 30 year old sewing machine, okay, she's not really 30 years, but close to it! She still works real well, just really stubborn about letting me get the correct tension on the bobbin. Grrr!
This was our diningroom table (sorry honey) maybe Santa will grant me my wish for a real sewing room someday. My hubby hates, hates, hates clutter (I, usually do to) but I have to sew these for our daughters for one of the gifts I'm making.
The gingham fabric is for the Apron itself, I'm stitching a few words to sew onto the apron later. For the stitching, I actually thought using the cotton yarn I bought for dishclothes went well. (kinda like duct tape, there's only 1001 things you can use yarn for)
Three days later, this is what I created, I'm amazed! Let me share a secret with you all. The last time I actually "tried to sew something' was in Home Ec in 8th grade back in 19... well a long time ago, okay. I had the best Home Ec teacher around, I chose to make a flannel shirt in my class, I got to the sleeves, and the part where you sew the sleeve to the shirt... well I sewed it to the shirt all right, all of it! It ended up that I sewed the sleeve completely shut. Mrs. Mitchell, my Home Ec teacher (bless her heart) mello as she was, said this is a seam ripper, now carefully rip each stitch out, when you are done, try to sew the sleeve again, just don't sew it closed. I was only what, 13 or 14 come on now!
I have improved, over the last few years, this is so cool, I can hardly wait until Christmas to give it to our daughter. She and I share the love of country decor. My next project, to go with this, is a wooden trays, something she can use to carry her meals from place to place, sit on her lap, and eat. I was thinking of doing a cookbook and have been trying to put one together, but man, that's a lot of work. I still have to duplicate these items for our other daughter, so the cookbook may be for Mothers day or Birthdays.
As I was working on these beautiful gifts for Christmas, I caught this glimpse out the window. It's a blizzard folks, a true blizzard! Radio weather was stating 1-3 inches per hour with white out conditions (ya think) hope hubby gets home safe and sound. Gee whillackers!
Guess, there's no doubt, we'll have a white Christmas this year...

Mel, just love your pretty blog page with the snowflakes. Your apron is precious. I was just asking on my embroidery post where everyone has their creative space. Just love the view from your window! blessings, Kathleen
Hello Kathleen, Amy & Vicky, Thanks for all your kind words on the apron.
Well, the snow has stopped, but, Oh Golly, is it cold! Beautiful to stay inside and look at with the sun shining so bright across the fresh snowfall.I love it when the snow is fresh and there are not tracks, or whn the sun shines just right and it looks like glitter has been sprinkled over top of it all.
Glad to have you all stop in, I love getting blogmments!
Ohhhh If you only knew how much I love aprons!!!!..I don't know why I don't learn to sew...I have a new machine! lol Seriously I have loved aprons all my life but it's pitiful I don't have a single one in the house...except my prize one hanging on an old washboard that my grandmother use to wear! Your daughters will love these when you get the other one made! lol Thanks for coming over girl...I hope the snow doesn't get too bad up there!
