Horsey Grammy's Lasagna

24 lasagna noodles
1 lb hot italian sausage
1 lb ground sirloin
1 onion chopped
2 or 3 cloves minced
1 tsp.oregano
1tsp. sweet basil
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic salt/powder
1 24 oz. tub of cottage cheese
1 lb tub ricotta cheese
2 bricks of monzrella cheese
2 to 3 jar of your favorite pasta sauce
(mine is Morgias)

Cook lasagna noodles according to pkg. directions. Next heat a skillet with approx. 2 tsp. olive oil, place Italian sausage into pan and cook until about half done; add ground sirloin to same pan and cook both until no longer pink, set aside. Now grate the monzrella once grated, add ricotta and cottage cheese all together( I add another good shake of onion powder & garlic powder to the cheese. Next grease the biggest casserole pan you own or two smaller ones and add about 3 TBLS of pasta sauce to bottom of pan/s place one layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce , then add approx. 1/2 cup of meats on top of noodles, then layer of cheese and top off with 1 1/2 cups sauce of sauce. Repeat this method until all the ingrediences are used up. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 1 hour or until bubbly and cheese on top is browned slightly. If you have a seal a meal, once the lasagna has cooled (about an hour or so) cut into portions that will serve your family; seal and freeze. This is excellent for camping trips as you can place the lasagna in a cast iron skillet with a little water in the bottom on your grill grate and heat thru for a warm hearty meal.

Oh Mel, I'm tickled to death you stopped by my place! Your horses and your barn are beautiful! That lasagna recipe looks great... I may have to try it. I've never been able to make good lasagna- I always mess it up somehow. (maybe I'd better stick to beans and cornbread! LOL) Please come back for another visit soon!
