Our Critters on the farm

A few people have ask for picture of the chickens this is the most recent taken just a few days ago. There's our poor horses stuck inside once again due to the cold temps and wind. I have to agree with my husband when we were in California and deciding where to retire he told me "upstate NY was colder than Alaska," nah; could not be possible. Well, I'm here to say; "I was so wrong," it is colder here than in Fairbanks anyway. Brrr! Maybe it has something to do with age, thinner blood, I don't know!
Reminiscence
I grew up in central Pennsylvania and played outside a lot during the winter. Remember the long wooden sleds with the two metal runners, and how you'd lay on them and stack a few people on top of you; oh how'd you fly down the hills. We'd stay out for hours until your hands were pink and half frozen, why were we so numb to all this as youngsters? Did you ever dare a friend, who then dared you,to take off your socks and boots to run barefoot through the snow? I miss those days, just this morning I was explaining to my granddaughter (after she mentioned how fast time was going) how some days there just doesn't seem to be enough time in a day to get things done. How my own mother used to say enjoy your childhood, when you become an adult time flies. It's not like the time on the clock goes faster, we all know there 24 hours in a day, yet some things seem like only yesterday, when in reality it was a year or two ago.
